Community Planner

Job Type Full-time Description Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG) is an employee-owned, nationally ranked design firm providing civil engineering, surveying, and environmental services to the private and public sectors. We are actively seeking a Community Planner to join our team of professionals in York, PA. The Community Planner is responsible for landscape architecture, land planning, design, and land development projects. Work on several projects simultaneously while proactively collaborating with other team members. Create large planning documents with proficiency in layout, consistency, and attractive visual appearance. Collecting and compiling a variety of quantitative and qualitative data to prepare reports and maps. Researching requirements and standards. Support planning projects and preparation of master planning and strategic planning documents for Federal, State, and Local Government Clients, as well as Private Sector Clients. Apply general concepts of urban design and development. Prepares long-range and strategic plans for the city's growth and development, while also serving as a key focal point for plan implementation. Prepare graphics, drawings and renderings in support of planning. Design and develop planning studies and compile completed reports. Conduct research, create and modify plans, diagrams, sketches, renderings, maps, drawings, and reports Participate in development of proposals, budgets, and project timelines. Developing reports Conducting field evaluations and assessments. Perform strategic planning assignments related to comprehensive and specific area planning, including gathering, analyzing and reporting on pertinent social, economic and physical data relevant to planning activities; providing staff assistance on department and planning policy issues; representing the department at meetings with other departments, outside agencies, organizations, and community groups; creating and giving presentations; and preparing and evaluating plans and written reports with recommendations. Analyzing and integrating land use, environmental, and transportation planning information for a variety of plans and projects; preparing and updating the City's Comprehensive Plan and special purpose, strategic, or specific area plans; working with stakeholders and community groups to develop neighborhood plans; planning for Urban Villages and Transit-Oriented Development areas around passenger rail stations; and assisting in public participation processes associated. Preparation of master planning and strategic planning documents for Federal, State, and Local Government Clients, as well as Private Sector Clients. Supporting master plan development, urban design, and revitalization projects of varying sizes and complexities in diverse communities. Conducting field evaluations and assessments. Research and analyze development projects. Assist with preparation of boards, worksheets, and other materials for public/client meetings, workshops, charrettes, and project team meetings. Design and develop planning studies and compile completed reports. Compile, research, analyze and evaluate data related to social, housing, economic, population, environmental, land use trends, preparing reports and presentations associated with the above items. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, Community Planning, Urban Planning or related field; Master's Degree desired AICP certification is preferred 5
years' experience in:
Land Planning, Land Development, Master Planning, Feasibility Studies, City & Regional Planning Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite The ideal candidate will have significant experience in long-range planning, including compelling work on municipal comprehensive plans, area plans, and/or urban design plans Demonstrated knowledge of land use, environmental, and transportation planning, together with demographic and economic research methods and tools, ArcGIS, and urban design concepts is strongly preferred. Knowledge of one or more planning disciplines, such as master planning, urban planning, community planning, economic development, or land use Experience with relevant drafting/design software, such as AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, ArcMap and InDesign Has strong analytical and project management skills Excellent written and oral communication, and organizational skills Must have the flexibility to travel to other offices and local business sites Is a team player Has the legal right to work in the U.S. Life at HRG Are you a creative problem solver who wants to make a difference in people's everyday lives? Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
