Summary:
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing controls systems for customer projects through the quote, specification, design, build, installation, and qualification stages for robotics and fluid power integration projects.
Additionally, when needed the Engineer will act as a controls engineering resource on projects where application and design of electrical controls and controls concepts are required.
RG will rely on this engineer to be a subject matter expert in systems, controls engineering, and design with the ability to create cost effective solutions that bring value to RG customers as well as execute/implement solutions on time, in budget, and in specification.
Essential Functions:
Interact with customers to develop deep understanding of requirements and deliverables related to design/build integration projects.
Develop/design cost effective solutions that meet customer requirements.
Work with quoting engineering team to develop accurate costing for Engineered Services bids.
Coordinate all engineering releases and changes relative to designs under your control.
Maintain detailed documentation as required.
Provide input to shipment schedules, plans, and forecasts as knowledge of production status develops.
Support, troubleshoot and develop solutions for controls and electrical issues on existing systems.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Expert Knowledge in electrical controls systems and design.
Expert Knowledge in controls architecture design, PLC programming, and motion control.
Expert Knowledge in electrical distribution systems, panel design and electrical safety, UL508a knowledge a plus.
Skilled in the use of CAD design software to create schematics, drawings and BOMs.
AutoCAD Electric a plus.
Existing experience with industrial robotics or mobile robotics.
Fanuc robots a plus.
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to manage risk-taking and able to recognize and support the organizations priorities.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Self-starter and capable of working effectively on own initiative.
Able to effectively manage multiple priorities.
Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.
Results-oriented, with the ability to balance other business considerations.
Environment:
Both office and manufacturing environment.
Ability to drive a company provided vehicle - license and good driving record required.
Travel to other RG Group locations or to customer locations 0-25%; travel may be for a week at a time Education:
4-year degree in an Engineering discipline.
Electrical preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering design of electrical and controls systems.
