Community Development Credit Counselor

Job Overview:
The Community Development Credit Counselor will have responsibility for providing one-on-one and group credit counseling for applicants of Dollar Bank's Home Ownership Program.
The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing credit reports to determine the level of credit counseling a client may require and for assisting the client in creating an action plan to successfully complete the homebuying process.
Additionally, this individual will assist in conducting seminars regarding credit issues with local community groups, non-profit organizations, and similar entities.
Networking to build relationships and referral sources for the Bank's homeownership program while attending public events, workshops and seminars is a key element in the successful performance of this position.
Minimum
Qualifications:
College degree required.
Will consider professional experience in lieu of education.
Two (2) years of credit counseling, mortgage underwriting, or similar experience.
Knowledge of mortgage credit requirements, mortgage products and procedures and an understanding of FNMA, HUD, FHA and other government related lending programs.
Ability to facilitate instruction to customers (individually or in a group setting) about credit, budgeting, and the mortgage process.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Word (candidate will be tested).
Experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Must possess a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred
Qualifications:
A background in housing counseling, social service counseling, underwriting and/or mortgage processing.
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) with employees and customers in a professional, business-like manner.
Demonstrated ability to motivate others, set priorities and make decisions.
Principal Activities and Duties:
Review Home Ownership Program applications to ensure inclusion of all documentation prior to accepting potential clients into the program.
Order and review credit reports.
Exercise independent judgement in determining appropriate levels of credit counseling required for clients and assisting in planning corrective action throughout the mortgage application and home purchase process.
Guide clients through the process of purchasing a home when credit restoration timeline is twelve months or less.
Advise clients on various mortgage programs available at Dollar Bank and prepare them to meet application requirements.
Administer Dollar Bank's 5-2-1 Matched Savings Program and Home Ownership Program.
Provide post-purchase counseling, as needed.
Maintain updated filing/purging system to keep accurate count of program clients.
Monitor and reconcile various Community Development related accounts (i.
e.
credit reports, Matched Savings accounts, field workshop reports, etc.
).
Plan and coordinate presentations on home ownership and credit seminars with the assistance of other qualified bank personnel.
Meet with community groups, church leaders, government officials and/or social service providers to attract clients to the Bank's home ownership program.
Assist VP with special projects and unassigned tasks.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
